Apply and assess in grants and contributions
One of the most time-consuming activities in the delivery of grants and contributions programs is in the assess stage of the 8As. In this course, you’ll get an overview of the project assessment framework and other elements, including environmental considerations, what to do if the applicant is a lobbyist and how to identify any conflict of interest.

Asemaa Nitam Tobacco Series with Farelle Bernier – Part 2
Asemaa Nitam, meaning “sacred tobacco first” in Anishinaabe, is a multi-part presentation series dedicated to exploring the cultural, spiritual, and agricultural significance of tobacco within Indigenous traditions. This series centers on traditional knowledge, personal experience, and scientific observation, offering participants a holistic understanding of this sacred plant. In part 2, follow Farelle into the garden at Bernier farm to have a close up view of 13 nicotiana varieties labelled as “tobacco” and explore the differences between them, including growing risks and toxicity. Learn more about tobacco’s role in traditional Indigenous agriculture, cultivation techniques, harvesting and storage, followed by a discussion on literary resources to put on your bookshelf.

Award – funding agreement
A grant or contribution agreement is an important legal document with many clauses. The Project Officer is a recipient’s main contact for their project and the program and must work with the recipient to develop the agreement. In this course, you’ll examine AAFC’s standard agreement template to better understand the agreement sections.
