Description

As part of the AAFC Indigenous Awareness Speaker Series, ISAO is honoured to host guest Heather Campbell as she shares her research, work, and knowledge on Inuit Traditional Tattooing.

Heather Campbell (Inuk) is an artist, researcher, and arts administrator originally from Kikiak (Rigolet), Nunatsiavut, NL currently residing in North West River, NL. Campbell holds a BFA from Wilfred Grenfell College of Fine Art at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Her art practice encompasses painting, drawing, and research on Inuit art, culture, and Inuit Tattooing. Over the past ten years, as part of her artistic practice, Heather has been researching Inuit tattooing. She has written on this topic for Library and Archives Canada and for the Inuit Art Quarterly.

Heather will share a presentation on Inuit Tattooing then the session will conclude with an opportunity for discussion and questions.
