Description

This session explores First Nations history, culture and perspectives. The course is offered by the Indigenous Support and Awareness Office (ISAO).

The introductory learning session will focus on:

  • Demographics and language
  • Similarities and differences in First Nations
  • Spirituality and ceremony
  • Governance systems
  • History
  • Treaties and land claims
  • The Indian act
  • Residential school system
  • Reconciliation

This course will also have a pre-reading assignment and will be discussed during the session.

Session runs approximately 2 hours but may run over for further discussion on topics.

This course is part of the Indigenous Awareness Learning Series at AAFC.
