Description
This session provides a summary of Metis Nation history, culture and perspective from a Red River Metis citizen. The course is offered by the Indigenous Support and Awareness Office (ISAO).
The introductory learning session will focus on:
- Misunderstandings of identity
- Birth of a Nation and its historical figures
- Symbology
- Historic and contemporary recognition
- Political representation
- Culture (language, art, beadwork, etc)
This course will also have a pre-reading assignment and will be discussed during the session.
The session is provided in English and will run approximately 1.5 hours but may run over for further discussion.
This course is part of the Indigenous Awareness Learning Series at AAFC.
