The Working Mind, developed by the Mental Health Commission of Canada, is the recommended mental health training for all AAFC employees. It is an awareness-based program designed to address and promote mental health, reduce the stigma of mental illness in the workplace, and help employees develop strategies they can apply in their day-to-day activities.
The course focuses on practical knowledge of mental health and mental illness, including:
- Recognizing changes in your own mental health and that of others
- Skills to maintain mental health
- Improving coping and resilience
- Reducing both public and self-stigma, and
- Being part of a supportive workplace
